RUBY SMITH

Currently Teaching:

NZAMD Jazz, NZAMD Contemporary

Ruby is 18 years old and has been dancing with Drury Lane Dance and Performance for 15 years. Throughout these years she has trained in many styles, including jazz, contemporary, hip hop, ballet, tap and musical theatre. She has completed her NZAMD solo in jazz and hip hop in 2019 and 2017 respectively. Ruby has been nominated for NZAMD scholarships in jazz, contemporary and hip hop and was a member of the Intermediate Performance Group for 5 years. Being a part of this group she has performed at many community events including the Hamilton christmas parade, special children's christmas party, christmas at the lake and various rest homes throughout Hamilton, Cambridge and Otorohanga. Ruby was also a part of the televised Coca-Cola Christmas at the Park in Auckland, and Waiata Mai in Rotorua. Ruby loves performing at these events as not only does it help strengthen her dance and performance ability, but it allows her to give back to the community.
This is Ruby’s first year of teaching, and she is excited to have the opportunity to mentor students and grow their dance passion.
